Reminiscence

Just had a look through my folders and found my AS Level textiles final pieces and well then realized ITS NOT ON THE BLOG...so here you go.

These were the response to the brief of circles and because I had used dark and eerie colours in the previous project I decided to go against my usual colours and go for the primary colours. As you can tell from the poor quality images above that I think I achieved what I wanted to and but if I could do it now then I would make the whole thing the same size but the little bits I'd have more of them and a lot bigger to co-exist with the way that the scale went.
If that made any sense :)

busy busy busy.

So I have a week and a half left till I enroll back at Coleg Sir Gar and well this summer has flown by.

Between working on my summer project and working for extra money come freshers and the new year I've barely sat down, so that's the reason for lack of insight to my textiles world and creations, however now I have this week and a bit to pack my belongings for the long road trip back to Carmarthen. I also have to pack all my art stuff up and therefore have to get a wriggle on doing it. my sketchbook is currently looking a bit bare and dye-less so I'll get cracking on that first so I can then pack them away and then there's no fear that I've left them here.

I think more than anything I want to get on and get back to Uni and get on PhotoShop with guidance and of course freedom to do whatever I need to whenever really. And I think that this is my serious year, more than anything I want to be remembered for my work, not the lack of or lack of my presence but the quality and quantity of good work to be etched in peoples brains.

Anyway rant over and well I'ma get on and get some dying and sketchbook work done before next friday bites me on the bum.

Slowly Getting There

So...I forgot to keep you updated.

I have just finished my mood board with what I am looking to create, with the colours I am going to be using throughout the samples and drawings and prints and then the title I have given it...Creed seemed a bit abstract and I like Under The Sea as it has a ring to it...not just because of the song either.

So now I can begin to put things together in an organised mess in my sketchbook waiting for September for my tutors to criticize all over. Not to worry though...I'm sure some of them with enjoy a different side to me...a working side to me.

Anyways that's all for now I shall update you tomorrow or Saturday with teh outcomes of my dying techniques and experiments.

Week 4.

So I've been home for a week and a half and been busy researching that I forgot about you.

Been researching artists and coming up with dye patterns and colour ways without actually being allowed to dye :( its nice to now finally be able to do my work and get on with it however my printer is still being and arse and printing lines so it might be a trip to a nice printing place like staples with a jobs lot of it.

ohwells as always comment below if you have any links i could use and i'll keep you posted more often i promise...

Under water stuffs

Currently out of practical action as can't really take my dyes and paints on holiday...time for relaxing from a hectic first year. But this lazing around doesn't mean I have forgotten to do vital primary research.

I am currently in Spain on the Costa Brava coast of Llfranc. The sea is beautiful from above and below and contains the colours and patterns and variety I currently need to gain a sturdy foot into my sketchbook. The photos therefore will be developed and turned into patterns and repeat patterns and used in designing garments and ways to make the pattern on a knitting machine or loom as I'm undecided in which to pick...

Oh well...I just thought I'd update the zero viewers to here but I'll promise now to update once a week if not more...

Any ideas and suggestions of where to go during these ten week holiday would be appreciated either on here, my Facebook or twitter. @siobhanlouiseee Siobhan Goodger.

NEW BRIEF

This summer project that links into my first project back come September, is based on the upcoming fashion trend of CREED by Style Sight megatrends.

I have a colour palette assembled already due to the nature of Style Sights site. i will then produce this colour palette in multiple ways of dyes, acrylics, pastels and photoshop chips.

I'm super excited about this project and whats to come of it and how its going to develop over a longer time than my last briefs of contrasts and utility.

Ba1 brief two

So the new brief we have been given is based on utility, a exhibition based in Craft In The Bay, Cardiff. So that is an eventful trip down there. I get the half 8 train and spend 8 hours there...better be good. But yeah my approach to utility is the more industrial side in the sense of pipes, you know, the general plumbing and heating sort of pipes with all the taps and such. So my colour palette is slivers, golds, bronzes, greys, blacks, and whites.

Within this I have to produce 6 knit samples, 6 weave samples, 2 stitch samples and 5 print samples and probably more outcomes when I get the written brief from Stephen and Paula... But overall I think that I am going to enjoy this unit as my work can become anything and look abstract as i want it...but I have to begin with primary research of this exhibition and then my own drawings and photos of pipes within this ancient house of mine and then get some piping from B&Q or Homebase and start drawing and weaving in with stuff like that...oh well

Pictures to follow tomorrow or Friday along with a log of the trip.
